Father of Theseus. Hid a sword and a sandal under a boulder. When he left Aethra, mother of Theseus, he told her that should they have a son he was to come to see his father only when he could lift the boulder. Married Medea and fathered Medus with her.
Amulius
Descendant of Aneas and userper of the thrown of Alba Longa from his brother Numitor. Forced Rhea Silvia, daughter of Numitor, to be a vestal virgin to prevent her mothering heirs to the thrown.
Arion
Poet and cithara player. On his return from wining a contest in Sicily his ship was boarded by pirates and he was thrown overboard. He was carried home by dolphins.
Ascanius
Son of Aeneas and Creusa and founder of Alba Longa.
Atreus
Son of Pelops and thus under a curse form Hermes for the murder of his son Myrtilus. He owned a golden ram which led to jealousy and murder between him and his brothers.
Calchas
A seer who predicted that the Trojan war would last 10 years. Died of grief after being beaten by Morpsus in a riddle guessing contest.
Cassandra
Daughter of King Priam of Troy and his wife Hecuba. Given the power of prophecy by Apollo but, for rejecting his advances, was doomed to never be beleived. Foretold the Trojan war, the wooden horse and the murder of Agammemnon. Killed by Clytemnestra.
Creon
Brother of Jocasta and ruler of Thebes. Offered the hand to whoever could solve the riddle of the Sphinx. Had Antigone walled into a cave.
Daedalus
Constructed a labyrinth for King Minos, who subsequently imprisoned him sohe could not work for others. Daedalus escaped with his son Icarus by constructing wings of wax and feathers. Icarus flew too close to the sun and the wax in his wings melted and he fell into the ocean and drowned.
Electra
Daughter of Agammemnon and Clytemnestra. Helped her brother escape Clytemnestra and later in killing her.
Ino
Daughter of Cadmus who raised Dionysus after his mother Semele died.
Iphigenia
Daughter of Agammemnon and Clytemnestra who was sacrified to Artemis.
Ixion
Thessalian king who killed his father-in-law Eioneus to avoidpaying a bride price for Dia. Condemmed to an eternity in Tartarisfor attempting to rape a copy of Hera, created by Zeus.
Laius
Father of Oedipus and husband of Jocasta. Killed by Oedipus as prophesised.
Laoccoon
Trojan and priest of Poseidon. Advised against acceptance of the wooden horse. He and his two sons were killed by a sea serpant.
Midas
Son of Gordias and Cybele and King of Phygia. Silenius fulfilled his wish that all he touched would turn to gold. Washed his golden touch with the guidance of Dionysus.
Minos
Son of Zeus and Europa and King of Crete. Husband of Pasiphae and owner of the labyrinth. Killed by Daedalus in a bath of boiling water.
Narcissus
Beautiful son of the river Cephissus and the nymph Liriope. Spurned Echo adn fell in love with his own reflection. Died of unrequited love and became a flower.
Oedipus
Son of Laius and Jocasta and sent away at birth as it had been prophecised that he would kill his father. Solved the riddle of the SPhinx and married his mother Jocasta. Father of Antigone, Polynices, Eteocles and Ismene. Blinded himself upon discovering he had unwittingly married his own mother and was led around by Antigone until he died.
Orestes
Son of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. Killed his mother to avenge the murder of his father. Persued by the Furies for matricide until pardonned by Athena.
Pandora
The first women who opened the box containing the misfortunes of existance.
Pelops
Son of King Tantalus and ruler of a kingdom in Asia Minor. Taken to Olympus by Poseidon. A charioteer and husband of Hippodaemia. Killed Myrtilus, son of Hermes, and he and his descendants were cursed as a result of the crime.
Pygmalion
King of Cyprus who built a statue of his ideal women and fell in love with it. Aphrodite hten brought the statue to life.
Romulus and Remus
Twin sons of Rhea Silvia and Mars who were cast into the Tiber at birth and were raised by wolves. Founders of Rome. ROmulus killed Remus.
Rhadamanthys
Son of Europa and Zeus.
Sisyphus
Son of King Aelus of Thessaly and Enarele. Condemmed to endless labour in Tartaris for his tricks.
Tiresias
Son of Charicolo the nymph and Everes. A blind seer.
